On this day we remember the fallen and honor dedicated conservation professionals across the world
The International Ranger Federation and The Thin Green Line Foundation invite Rangers and conservation allies around the world to join together on this World Ranger Day. World Ranger Day is commemorated each year on July 31, as a day to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty while protecting the world’s natural and cultural heritage, and a day to recognize and celebrate the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the conservation of the world’s natural and cultural resources.
The first, Working with Volunteers Forum took place via Teams on Tuesday 6th July despite some technical difficulties at the start which excluded Sharon from the proceedings for the first 20 minutes! It was wonderful to finally get some of those interested… Read More Läs mer
The International Ranger Federation (IRF), in collaboration with Re:wild (formerly Global Wildlife Conservation) and the University of Central Florida (UCF) are conducting a study to examine the characteristics and function of ranger associations, challenges that ranger associations face, and ways in which ranger associations can improve.
The study is being conducted in two phases. The first phase is a voluntary and anonymous survey that will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You can participate in the survey by using the link included below. More detailed information about the survey and the nature of your participation can be found once you open the link.

The second phase of the study includes interviews with rangers who are members of a ranger association. The interviews will be conducted virtually using a conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Skype). Participation in the interview is expected to last approximately 1 hour, and your responses will be confidential. If you would like to participate in an interview, please contact:

The ERF is investigating how our different member organisations work with, support and value the volunteers and volunteer groups that they work with. The aim of the questionnaire was to identify existing volunteer activities associated with Ranger Associations that are members of the ERF. This process will enable ERF to set up a database of volunteer groups and activities. The database will be used as a tool to support a knowledge exchange forum for those already engaging with volunteers, and provide a point of contact for others to gain insight and advice for setting up new volunteering activities. ERF hopes to eventually establish a Forum to discuss the volunteer activities in more detail and to enable a dialogue to be started. The survey was live to all members from 15th March until 16th April 2021 and was completed by 34. The survey was free of charge but by using Survey Monkey it limited the number of questions asked; the number or respondents (which was not reached) and we only received a basic analysis of the results. The good thing, however, is that 8 members have shown an interest in joining a Forum to discuss issues relating to the use of volunteers and the first meeting of this group is being planned for later this year. Please feel free to contact either of the organisers if you wish to join this Forum even if you did not respond to the original questionnaire. Läs mer
